Recap: Wayne Trace Raiders vs. Woodlan Warriors

The Wayne Trace Raiders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They managed a 57-53 win over Woodlan. Given Wayne Trace's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 61st in Ohio, while Woodlan is ranked 211th in Indiana), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Woodlan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trey Yoder. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The match was Yoder's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luke Meyer, who scored nine points.

Wayne Trace's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Woodlan, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne Trace will take on Ayersville at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Woodlan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
