Basketball Game Preview: Vinton County Vikings vs. Athens Bulldogs

The Vinton County Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Athens Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Vinton County is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Alexander just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost to the Spartans on the road by a 53-36 margin.

Meanwhile, Athens entered their match against Federal Hocking on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Athens fell 58-45 to Federal Hocking.

Athens' loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-3. As for Vinton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Vinton County might still be hurting after the 62-41 loss they got from Athens in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Vinton County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
