Baseball Recap: Yreka's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Yreka walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Orland Trojans on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. This was payback for the Miners, who suffered a 10-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brody Zediker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Yreka: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Yreka's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Gregg, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

The win was the fifth in a row for Yreka, bringing their record up to 11-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orland, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

Coming up, Yreka will take on West Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Miners' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Orland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
