Softball Game Preview: El Segundo Eagles vs. Culver City Centaurs

The El Segundo Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Culver City Centaurs at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Culver City took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on El Segundo, who comes in off a win.

While Eagles fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They had just enough and edged Notre Dame (SO) out 6-5 on Wednesday.

Sullivan McLaughlin and Marilyn McCaverty did most of the damage at the plate: McLaughlin fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3, while McCaverty went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave McCaverty a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Stevenson, who went a perfect4-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Culver City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Mira Costa, falling 10-2.

El Segundo came out on top in a nail-biter against Culver City when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will El Segundo repeat their success, or does Culver City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
