Baseball Preview: Marceline Tigers vs. Slater Wildcats
For the first time this season, Marceline will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Marceline Tigers duke it out with Slater Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. They comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Marceline's last matchup with Cameron could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. Marceline came up short against Cameron, falling 12-2. One positive for the Tigers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Marceline saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wes Bradley, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That hit was Bradley's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Slater came up short against Otterville on Friday and fell 5-2.
Tristen Klasing was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.
Slater's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Marceline, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Marceline came out on top in a nail-biter against Slater in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marceline since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
