Mascoutah won the last time they faced Riverview Gardens, and Sean Murphy did his part to make sure it happened again. The Indians took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 36-0 win over the Rams thanks in part to Murphy, who rushed for 189 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 112 rushing yards dating back to last season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mascoutah's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Casey, Alfred Reyna, and Riley Royer, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Riverview Gardens' side was Casey, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Mascoutah's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Riverview Gardens, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Mascoutah and Riverview Gardens will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Indians will square off against rival Waterloo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Riverview Gardens is set to face off against their familiar foe University City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
