Football Recap: Kayla Martinez Key Part of Team Effort in Mustangs Win

The Montville Mustangs strolled past the Wallkill Valley Rangers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 25-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Montville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayla Martinez led the charge by picking up 111 receiving yards and two scores. Sierra Turner made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Montville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Divya Venkatachalam, Turner, Kaitlyn Tedesco, and Natalia Morales picked up one apiece. Turner got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Montville's win bumped their record up to 2-0-1.

Montville will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Morristown at 6:00 p.m. on the 24th. Wallkill Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
