Baseball Game Preview: Wilson Lakemen vs. Albion Purple Eagles

The Wilson Lakemen will take on the Albion Purple Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Wilson came up short against Newfane and fell 12-7.

Tyler Johnston made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Albion came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Bulldogs.

Nathan Gibson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Albion is 2-1 when Gibson allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Gibson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gavin Boyce was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Boyce, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Wilson's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Albion, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Wilson beat Albion 7-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Lakemen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Purple Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
