Hillcrest suffers 13th straight loss at home

Recap: Hillcrest Huskies vs. Cottonwood Colts

This season hasn't been kind to the Hillcrest Huskies, who are still winless after their 14th match. They were outmatched by Cottonwood at home and fell 66-14. Hillcrest has not had much luck with Cottonwood recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Emily Mandel was Hillcrest's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

Avea Van der beek was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points for Cottonwood. Van der beek continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Carley Caton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

Hillcrest bumped their record down to 0-14 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.9 points per game. As for Cottonwood, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Hillcrest will head out on the road to square off against Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Cottonwood, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Stansbury at 7:00 p.m. Stansbury is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
