Basketball Game Preview: Meigs County Tigers vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders

The Meigs County Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Meigs County is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 28th on Wednesday. They were beaten by McMinn Central 70-28. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Chargers are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gatlinburg-Pittman walked away with it. They walked away with a 72-63 victory over the Tornadoes on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Highlanders, who have now won six contests in a row.

Meigs County better keep an eye on Chloe Mejias. She was instrumental in Gatlinburg-Pittman's win, shooting 80% from the field to rack up 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The last time Mejias' shooting accuracy was this high was back in February of 2024. Addi Wear was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Gatlinburg-Pittman was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They are 22-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meigs County's loss dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, their victory bumped their record up to 23-11.

Meigs County took a serious blow against Gatlinburg-Pittman in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 67-27. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Meigs County was down 43-16.
