Baseball Recap: Easton Vanalstine's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Shepherd over Beaverton

Shepherd suffered their closest defeat since May 14, 2024 on Thursday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Shepherd saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton VanAlstine, who went 1-for-4 with one run. Jake Travis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Shepherd's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 6-2-1. As for Beaverton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shepherd will head out to square off against Ogemaw Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beaverton, they will venture away from home to take on Farwell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
