Mentor among the national Top 25 selected by MaxPreps.

The high school football playoffs wrapped Day 1 Friday with regional quarterfinals in four of seven divisions. There were several notable performances.

No. 2 St. Edward posted a 73-38 win over No. 25 Medina. Wow is right. In the same region, No. 1-ranked Mentor was a 48-7 winner over Cleveland Heights. The Eagles and Cardinals could meet in the regional final in two weeks.

In Division II,  No. 5 Washington, No. 13 Central Catholic, No. 16 Anthony Wayne and No. 17 Mayfield remained unbeaten. Previously undefeated No. 22 Turpin fell to St. Francis de Sales (Columbus).
