Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Lynx vs. Papillion-LaVista Monarchs

The Lincoln Lynx will head out on the road to square off against the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Lincoln was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-50 to Omaha Central. The Lynx were up 23-8 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

The losing side was boosted by Hutson Rau, who made all 5 shots she took to post 11 points and seven rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addie Naughton, who posted 16 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista posted their biggest win since January 27, 2024 on Monday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 74-29 stomp they got against Buena Vista. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Bison are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lincoln now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Papillion-LaVista, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
