Softball Game Preview: Etna Lions vs. Los Molinos Bulldogs

The Etna Lions will take on the Los Molinos Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Etna is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Loyalton as they made off with a 13-1 win. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Los Molinos waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Warriors 14-1.

Addison Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Los Molinos got a big performance out of Paige Williams, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Williams has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maura Combs, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Los Molinos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Los Molinos pushed their record up to 22-5-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Etna, their record is now 18-9.

Etna came out on top in a nail-biter against Los Molinos when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
