Basketball Recap: Purnell Swett Comes Up Short

Purnell Swett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dillon Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly seven points.

Treasure Davis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dillon, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Dillon's points. Another player making a difference was Khwnylahi Mckinnon, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Purnell Swett's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Dillon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Purnell Swett will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cape Fear at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Dillon, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-34 win against Red Springs on the 20th.
