Basketball Game Preview: Wiregrass Kings vs. Byne Christian Saints

The Wiregrass Kings will face off against the Byne Christian Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wiregrass is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Wiregrass is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against East Central HomeSchool on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Wiregrass was dealt a 55-11 defeat at the hands of East Central HomeSchool. While losing is never fun, the Kings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while the Patriots are ranked 57th).

Wiregrass got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Josie Duren and Avery Barnes, who each put up four points. Barnes also led the team in rebounds with eight.

Meanwhile, Byne Christian came up short against CHESS Academy last Friday and fell 51-44.

Wiregrass' loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Byne Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.

Wiregrass might still be hurting after the 48-23 loss they got from Byne Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Byne Christian's Layna Paramore, who went 7 for 11 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and five steals. Now that Wiregrass knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
