Basketball Game Preview: La Porte Slicers vs. Chesterton Trojans

The La Porte Slicers will take on the Chesterton Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Porte comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

La Porte is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Plymouth on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. La Porte lost 59-33 to Plymouth. While losing is never fun, the Slicers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Pilgrims/Rockies are ranked 151st).

Despite the loss, La Porte saw an underclassman step up: freshman Dallas Richey posted 13 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Siona Ohime, who earned ten points.

Meanwhile, Chesterton had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Hobart to the tune of 63-21 on Tuesday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 24 points or more this season.

Chesterton's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for La Porte, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.
