Softball Recap: Coleman Triumphs

Coleman's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wausaukee Rangers, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted against the Rangers since April 7, 2022.

Makenzie Nowak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Coleman let Macy Nowak and Alyssa Kurth run wild. Nowak went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Kurth went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was Nowak's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilia Wendt, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Coleman's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Wausaukee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Coleman will head out to square off against Hancock at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wausaukee, they will venture away from home to challenge Pembine/Goodman at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
