Volleyball Recap: Georgetown Eagles vs. Friendswood Mustangs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Georgetown had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Friendswood Mustangs. The Eagles are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 14 straight.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 26-24, 23-25, 25-23.

Addison Gaido paced Georgetown's offense, picking up 26 kills. Gaido got some help from Amelia Albright and her 21 assists. Mckenzie Bernard controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Friendswood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anna Melgren, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces Melgren has posted since back in October. Another player making a difference was Haley Patton, who had 14 digs.

Georgetown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 42-8 record this season. As for Friendswood, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 38-9 record.

Georgetown is on the road again on Tuesday to play Cedar Park at 7:00 p.m. Cedar Park will roll in looking for their 21st straight victory, something Georgetown surely won't give up without a fight. Friendswood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
