Everett Alvarez extended the longest winning streak in Monterey Bay - Pacific this week by beating Gilroy, 64-26. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Everett Alvarez moved up to 372 from 432 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Dave Bottom's team was able to move up by beating the Mustangs 64-26.
Justyn Gutierrez threw for 167 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Sterling Montgomery was a passing and rushing force as Christopher bested Watsonville. He completed 14 passes for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 11 yards. Montgomery's key target this week was Tyler Fhurong, who caught 3 passes for 62 yards.
Rashon Mills was the best running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 145 yards as the Cougars topped North Monterey County. Teammate Trevor Hadnot added to the ground attack by rushing for 72 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Montgomery of Christopher is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,549. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dorr. The North Salinas star has 40 catches for 637 yards.
Tim Pierleoni's team's Mills needs only 97 yards against Gilroy next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 100 carries Mills has accumulated 903 yard this year.
Two of the top teams in Monterey Bay - Pacific will go toe-to-toe this week when Brian Boyd's team takes on the Cougars. The Mustangs' offense has recorded 317 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Christopher has permitted only 144 on the year.
At the moment, the Wildcatz are in fifth, while the Eagles are in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Gilroy and the Cougars face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Mustangs comes in having scored 317 this season, while Christopher has scored 266. Gilroy scored 26 points last week as it lost to Everett Alvarez.
