Baseball Recap: Santa Ana Valley's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Santa Ana Valley came into Thursday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors on Thursday. That looming 6-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Falcons yet this season.

Julian Esqueda made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Esqueda was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Ayden Serrano was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Daniel Vasquez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Santa Ana Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Ana Valley will head out to take on Santiago at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Beverly Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Normans will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
