Basketball Preview: Seminole Warhawks vs. Osceola Warriors
Seminole is 8-2 against the Warriors since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Seminole Warhawks will be playing at home against the Osceola Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Seminole's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Warriors have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Seminole was handed a two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Spartans on Tuesday. Seminole took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 54-19 victory over the Spartans. With Seminole ahead 33-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Seminole had a senior duo take command as Laney Pearson scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals and Devon Swartz scored 17 points along with eight blocks and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pearson has scored at least a third of Seminole's points. Ava Santore was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Osceola was the victim of a rough 48-25 defeat at the hands of the Marauders on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Osceola in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now lost four in a row.
Seminole is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season. As for Osceola, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Everything went Seminole's way against the Warriors when the teams last played last Thursday as the Warhawks made off with a 38-15 win. With Seminole ahead 24-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
