Football Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

Marion lost against Centralia back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wildcats were dealt a 55-28 defeat at the hands of the Orphans. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.

Although Marion took the loss, they still got scores from Logan Hoffman, Ayden Broomfield, Sam Adkins, and Junious Thomas.

This is the second loss in a row for Marion and nudges their season record down to 3-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-1 Cahokia (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 81.7% over those games). As for Centralia, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Coming up, Marion will be playing in front of their home fans against Collinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Callahan Roper and Jace Wilkinson. As for Centralia, they are taking a road trip to face off against Cahokia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comanches' defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so the Orphans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
