Baseball Game Preview: Centralia Orphans vs. Triad Knights

Centralia is 0-4 against Triad since April of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Orphans will be playing at home against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Centralia 3.8, Triad 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Centralia's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Waltonville 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Orphans have posted since May 23, 2024.

Centralia got a great performance from Archie Goewey as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Goewey also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Orphans are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rhett Lambert, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Triad had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Kahoks with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Centralia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Triad, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
