The Central Rockets will take on the Jacobs Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Central has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Central is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since March 20th on Saturday. They fell just short of Geneva by a score of 8-6. Rockets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Vikings since Saturday.
Isabelle Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Madison Butler and Samantha Sieverding did some serious damage despite the final result: Butler went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Sieverding went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Prairie Ridge hit Jacobs with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Audrey Wetzel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Talia Disilvio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Central now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Jacobs, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Central hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Jacobs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Jacobs when the teams last played on April 10th, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
