Softball Preview: Western Wayne Wildcats vs. Old Forge Blue Devils

Western Wayne hasn't had much luck against Old Forge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Western Wayne will be strutting in after a win while Old Forge will be coming in after a loss.

Western Wayne took a 22-run defeat the last time they faced off against Riverside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Vikings 12-11 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Sophia Ochlan was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah DeStefano, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Old Forge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 6-1 to Mid Valley.

Kamryn Notari spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, Ariana Davitt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Old Forge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Western Wayne, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
