Baseball Game Preview: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Poway Titans

The Torrey Pines Falcons will square off against the Poway Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Torrey Pines and nine for Poway.

Torrey Pines is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since April 7th on Friday. They came up short against Rancho Bernardo, falling 12-4.

Torrey Pines saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vince Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Nick Aldrich also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Poway's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Costa Canyon on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Titans have lost by exactly five runs.

Owen Digenan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April.

Torrey Pines' record now sits at 11-16. As for Poway, their record is now 6-20.

Torrey Pines took their win against Poway in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
