Baseball Recap: James Monroe Falls to Alleghany in First Game of Season

James Monroe had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Alleghany Cougars, falling 11-1. The Mavericks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

James Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylee Ridgeway, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. James Monroe will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against PikeView at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Alleghany, they will host Staunton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
