Baseball Game Preview: Lake Stevens Vikings vs. Shorewood Stormrays

The Lake Stevens Vikings will challenge the Shorewood Stormrays at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shorewood took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake Stevens, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Lake Stevens came out on top against Burlington-Edison by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Lake Stevens got a great performance from Luke Morris as he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Morris a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lake Stevens' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Blake Moser, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs Moser has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Aspen Alexander, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Shorewood suffered their closest defeat since April 17, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Ballard by a score of 5-3. The Stormrays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shorewood also got a good showing from Reid Oliveto, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Lorenzo Jaramillo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Kanata Barber was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Shorewood's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Lake Stevens, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Lake Stevens was able to grind out a solid victory over Shorewood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Will Lake Stevens repeat their success, or does Shorewood has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
