Basketball Game Preview: Pine View Panthers vs. Snow Canyon Warriors

The Pine View Panthers will challenge the Snow Canyon Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Pine View took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 56-45 win over Hurricane.

Meanwhile, Snow Canyon put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Crimson Cliffs for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-38 victory. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Mustangs are ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pine View better keep an eye on Olivia Hamlin. She was instrumental in Snow Canyon's win, going 20 of 27 en route to 43 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Hamlin's evening made it 45 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joey Jensen, who posted six points along with ten assists and eight rebounds.

Pine View has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Snow Canyon, they pushed their record up to 19-0 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.

Pine View was dealt a bruising 62-29 loss at the hands of Snow Canyon when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hamlin, who went 13 for 22 on her way to 33 points and eight steals. Now that Pine View knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
