Recap: Pettus Eagles vs. Lasara Lions
The Pettus Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. Their2023 ended with a 61-43 defeat against Lasara.
Despite the loss, Pettus had strong showings from Ramon Reyna, who scored 17 points, and Desmond Montoya, who scored 14 points. Reyna scored a full 39.5% of Pettus' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Seth Guajardo, who scored five points.
Pettus has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Lasara, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pettus' road trip will continue as they head out to face WINGS Homeschool Athletics at 5:00 p.m. on January 2nd. WINGS Homeschool Athletics is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Lasara, they will head out on the road to face off against Harvest Christian on Friday. Harvest Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
