Softball Recap: Charlotte Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Charlotte walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Flatonia Bulldogs on Thursday as they made off with a 13-4 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Aubry Escamilla was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Charlotte let Kadence Luna and Lexi Cumpian run wild. Luna went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Cumpian went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Luna has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Garcia, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Charlotte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flatonia only managed two hits.

The victory (which was Charlotte's third in a row) raised their record to 19-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Flatonia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Flatonia beat Charlotte by a score of 11-7 on Saturday.
