Football Recap: Sabino Takes a Loss + How To Watch

The Sabino Sabercats came up short against the Gilbert Christian Knights on Friday and fell 28-20.

Despite the loss, Sabino saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bodhi Sanford threw for 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (130 yards to be exact) went to Adrian Tellez, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Gilbert Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camden Gorsline, who rushed for 124 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Those 124 rushing yards gave Gorsline a new career-high. Another pass catcher making a difference was Malachi Ahlman, who gained 58 total yards and two touchdowns.

Sabino's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Gilbert Christian, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sabino will face off against Dysart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilbert Christian, they will take on ALA - Mesa North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
