Baseball Game Preview: Waconia Wildcats vs. Minnetonka Skippers

Waconia is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Minnetonka is on a six-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will host the Skippers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Waconia is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They fell just short of Buffalo by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Minnetonka beat Buffalo 8-4 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Skippers in their matchups with the Bison: they've now won seven in a row.

Mateo Aldecocea tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Brody Vogstrom was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Storts, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Waconia skirted past Minnetonka 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Skippers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
