Basketball Recap: Knowledge Academies Takes a Loss

Knowledge Academies played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks 76-27. Knowledge Academies hasn't had much luck with Merrol Hyde Magnet recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Despite the loss, Knowledge Academies saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zerahiah Polk posted eight points and 17 rebounds. With that strong performance, Polk is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamia Campbell, who earned eight points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Knowledge Academies smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Merrol Hyde Magnet's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Juliet Montgomery led the charge by putting up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Melania Couret, who scored 19 points.

Knowledge Academies' defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Merrol Hyde Magnet, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knowledge Academies will challenge Merrol Hyde Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
