Preview: Omaha Central Eagles vs. Papillion-LaVista South Titans

The Omaha Central Eagles on the road again on Friday and play against the Papillion-LaVista South Titans at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Omaha Central beat Elkhorn South 65-60.

Omaha Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devin Holmon, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of DaShawn Prince, who scored 12 points.

After soaring to a 25-point victory in their last game, Papillion-LaVista South came back down to earth two weeks ago. They fell just short of Omaha North by a score of 62-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Papillion-LaVista South has suffered yet this season.

The losing side was boosted by Bryson Bahl, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wes Frost, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Papillion-LaVista South were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha North only racked up eight assists.

Omaha Central's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Papillion-LaVista South, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.

Omaha Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Papillion-LaVista South when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 58-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Omaha Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
