Soccer Recap: Olympia Finds Playoff Glory Versus Oak Ridge

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Olympia had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Oak Ridge Pioneers a 2-0 shutout. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Pioneers are ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Otavio Fonseca De Andrade and Guilherme Valente scored both of Olympia's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Oak Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9-2 record this season.

Olympia will take on Windermere at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Windermere's last seven contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Oak Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
