Basketball Game Preview: Richland Rangers vs. Florence Eagles

Richland is 0-10 against Florence since December of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rangers will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 7:15 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Richland came up short against Leake County and fell 50-43.

Meanwhile, Florence waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 62-31 win over the Tigers. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Richland better focus on containing Kayne Ashley and Brandt Barlow as the pair were huge in Florence's win. Ashley dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards, while Barlow shot 60% from beyond the arc to rack up 20 points. Ashley has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 45% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Caiden Boyd, who posted eight points.

Richland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Florence, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Richland came up short against Florence when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 48-44. Can the Rangers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
