Softball Game Preview: Washington Township Senators vs. Hammond Central Wolves

The Washington Township Senators will head out on the road to take on the Hammond Central Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington Township has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Boone Grove hit Washington Township with a six-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Senators came up short against the Wolves, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Senators couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hammond Central couldn't beat Westville on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Wolves lost 21-5 to the Blackhawks. The Wolves have struggled against the Blackhawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Washington Township now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Hammond Central, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Washington Township took their victory against Hammond Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
