Baseball Game Preview: Annapolis Panthers vs. West Deptford Eagles

The Annapolis Panthers will head out to challenge the West Deptford Eagles at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. West Deptford took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Annapolis, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Annapolis faced off against Queen Anne's County on Thursday. The Panthers came out on top against the Lions by a score of 8-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Will Goulet was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Goulet was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Annapolis let Malachi Quinn and Ben Sale run wild. Quinn got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Sale got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Meanwhile, while it was West Deptford who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Decatur who put up more. The Eagles lost 16-4 to the Seahawks. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Seahawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jason Hartman was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Annapolis' record is now 3-7. As for West Deptford, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Annapolis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like West Deptford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts.
