Basketball Recap: Southland College Prep Skates Past Universal with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southland College Prep). They claimed a resounding 84-35 win over the Universal Stars. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-17.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southland College Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Shaw, who went 7 of 14 en route to 18 points, to go along with eight assists and six steals. With that strong performance, Shaw is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Shaunn Cooper Jr., who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards.

Southland College Prep's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1. As for Universal, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Southland College Prep will challenge EPIC Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Universal, they will head out to square off against Unity Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Unity Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
