Volleyball Recap: 'Iolani Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

There's no place like home for 'Iolani, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Punahou Buff n' Blue 2-1 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was 'Iolani who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 18-25, 16-14.

Their offense was headlined by Poema Kalama-Kingma and Georgie Lee, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Bailey Nakanelua and her 22 assists. Kalama-Kingma and Nakanelua didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

'Iolani's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. As for Punahou, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.

'Iolani wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Byron Nelson on the 16th. Hopefully Punahou paid attention to the Raiders' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on September 2.
