Football Recap: Savio Takes a Loss

Savio extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were dealt a 45-0 defeat at the hands of St. Thomas Catholic. While losing is never fun, Savio can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1011th, while St. Thomas Catholic is ranked 129th).

As for St. Thomas Catholic, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.4 points over those games.

St. Thomas Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Pierce Jacobson out in front who rushed for 54 yards and one score on only six carries. Javaughn Waldron was another key rusher, rushing for 70 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
