Basketball Recap: Badger Takes a Loss

Badger lost against Maplewood back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Badger Braves received a blow as they fell 51-36 to the Maplewood Rockets. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 684th, while the Rockets are ranked 220th).

When it comes to explaining why Badger lost, don't look at Riley Thomas. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Thomas is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Morgan Himes was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 20 points, ten boards, and 11 steals for Maplewood. The game was Himes' third in a row with at least ten points. Katie Wear was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Badger has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Maplewood, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Badger wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-40 victory against Chalker on the 25th. Maplewood has also already played their next game, a 48-42 win against Girard on the 25th.
