Basketball Recap: Jillian Barr Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

After losing to Greenfield-Central the last time they met, Delta decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Delta Eagles came out on top against the Greenfield-Central Cougars by a score of 63-54 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Delta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jillian Barr, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. That's the most points Barr has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffyn Knight, who posted 14 points along with six steals and five boards.

Delta has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Greenfield-Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

After both having extra time off, Delta and Blackford will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Delta is facing Blackford at the right time seeing as Blackford is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. Greenfield-Central and Lowell will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lowell's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Greenfield-Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.
