Softball Recap: Doherty Memorial Takes a Loss

Doherty Memorial lost against Wachusett Regional back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Highlanders took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers.

Riley Cormier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Isabella LLanos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Doherty Memorial dropped their record down to 4-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Wachusett Regional, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Doherty Memorial will challenge Shrewsbury at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wachusett Regional, they are taking a road trip to square off against Newton North at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
