Baseball Recap: L'Anse Creuse North Gets the Win

L'Anse Creuse North came out on top against Armada on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Crusaders skirted past the Tigers 7-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 on Thursday.

Jaxon Brincheck tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Luke Mette was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Koston Blaskowski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for L'Anse Creuse North and bumps their season record up to 14-18. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Armada, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. L'Anse Creuse North will take on Marine City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mariners' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Armada, they will challenge North Branch at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
