Softball Game Preview: Mynderse Academy Blue Devils vs. South Seneca Falcons

The Mynderse Academy Blue Devils will head out to face off against the South Seneca Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mynderse Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

Mynderse Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Wayne.

Isabella Burlew made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kyah Lajewski was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Cheyenne Mangum was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, South Seneca came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 13-12 W against the Panthers.

South Seneca pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Mynderse Academy, their record now sits at 8-6.

Mynderse Academy took their win against South Seneca when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 25-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
