Football Recap: Mead Mavericks vs. Greeley West Spartans
Mead won the last time they faced Greeley West and things went their way on Friday too. The Mavericks simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Spartans 55-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mavericks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Spartans are ranked 128th).
Ethan Elmore had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 54 yards and two scores on only five carries, and also threw for 60 yards and one TD.
Elmore was just one part of a punishing run game: Mead was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley West only rushed for 89.
Mead's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Owen Noe and Caleb Fahlin, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.
