Soccer Game Preview: St. Joseph-Ogden vs. Manteno

The St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Manteno Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Joseph-Ogden is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Watseka 11-2 on Monday. It was an even better day for Tyler Hess as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, Manteno waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Given Manteno's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Streator/Woodland are ranked 415th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Joseph-Ogden's record is now 20-0-2. As for Manteno, their record now sits at 14-5-2.

St. Joseph-Ogden might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Manteno when the teams last played back in September of 2018. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
